Guidelines for a Christian WEdding

A Christian Wedding service is a fine opportunity to compare marriage of Christ and His church.

Every person who dies in Christ will participate in the "wedding" forever.

Your Christian Wedding

"Haven't you read the Scriptures?" Jesus replied. "They record from the beginning 'God made them male and female.'" And He said, "This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. Since they are no longer two but one, let no one separate them, for God has joined them together." (Matt. 19:4-6) God has created marriage for a man and a woman to be a blessing for them and the others around them. Our church and denomination (The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod) affirm and believe that "marriage is the union of one man and one woman." (2004 LCMS Convention, Resolution 3-05A)

The Christian wedding is a worship service in which the bridal couple has invited their guests to join them in asking for God's blessing on their marriage. Though it is a solemn occasion, it should also be a festive thanksgiving to God. Opportunities for the congregation to participate may be in the form of hymns, responsive readings or scripture readings. The Pastor will explain the elements of the service to you and help you in planning the service.
